Technological advancements have made it easy for a plumber to use different types of pipe materials in their plumbing services. Whether one is dealing with the installation or repair of gas, waste or water system, there are already available types of pipes to use. The manufacturing mode of each kind is different and each has different quality with different extent of pros and drawbacks.

There are two main categories of pipes used by plumbing service providers. They are metal and plastic pipes. The plastic options are the PEX and PVC while the metal options pipes used include copper, stainless steel and galvanized steel.

The most common type of metal pipe material used by conduit fixers is copper. What make copper pipes standard for use are its features of reliability and durability. Apart from having a long lifespan and reliable, they are resistive to corrosion and higher temperature.

Any plumber buying copper for use in their activities should be well conversant with the disadvantages involved with copper pipes. It is a very expensive pipe compared to the other types. One can easily steal them from buildings for sale to scrap metal dealers, as it is a precious metal worth good money.

Stainless steel is another type of pipe that conduit fixers use during installation and repair of fluid systems. Stainless steel is able to handle corrosion brought about by salts, a feature other pipes do not have. However, most people do not commonly use it and it is very difficult to find.

A plumber who wants to make use of plastic pipe materials has a choice between the PEX, which is a kind of a polyethylene pipe and PVC also referred to as polyvinyl chloride. Polyvinyl chloride is white in color and used high-pressure water system. PEX pipes are highly flexible, can be either red or blue and handles both hot and cold water.
