There are many options for treatments:changing your posture, eating softer foods, avoiding chewy foods and eating smaller size bites are some of the simple day by day changes you can make that may offer you some relief.
Other a touch more in depth treatments could be to use cold compresses, anti inflammtory medications to keep the swelling down, pain pills, mouth guards to hinder you from clenching and grinding your teeth during the night and even some exercises can all help ease the agony and in some cases stop the pain to begin with.
Another thing which has offered relief to a lot of people is relaxation methods. Allowing folk the time to de-stress can go a great distance to helping to prevent one of the primary causes of night time teeth grinding. Easy things can often make a major difference so start small and try to relax a touch more. Your entire body will give you thanks, not just your jaw.
In extraordinary cases TMJ may require surgical treatment, but that's pretty extreme. Mostly a combination of one or two of the easy, non aggressive treatments noted above will be sufficient to provide relief.
