Spa parts don't normally enter into my thoughts or daydreams, but after a disaster, I was on a quest for new ones as if I were an Arthurian knight in search of the Holy Grail. My tale begins a couple months ago when I graciously allowed my cousin Burt to stay with me for a few days and he poured some vodka directly into my spa's electrical system in a horrible freak accident.
It will always be a mystery as to why he had the panel open so that the electronics got wet, but for whatever reason, I wound up with a nonfunctioning spa and a very sad cousin. He was very sorry and promised that he would pay for any damages, which was kind, but I was still left trying to discern what the problem might be and how it could be repaired. I had a repairman come down to take a gander at the system and he told me that not only was the circuit board fried, but that a bunch of other parts had been lost as well.
He then told me how much he thought it would cost for parts and labor, giving me a number that seemed quite extreme. I dismissed him without another word and began looking for another solution to this problem. Even though my cousin was footing the bill, I didn't want to see him pay so much money and I hoped that I would find a better deal on parts online.
I was right because within a few minutes of looking, I found a website that had fantastic discounted prices on exactly the spa parts that I needed as well as other things like spa covers and filters. I bought the right parts for my individual spa and then made arrangements for them to be installed a few days later by a repair person who was not set on scamming me for every penny I had.
After the repair men left, I spoke with my cousin, who was back home and told him that it was done. He readily sent me a check to cover the costs of repairs, and I joked with him that next time he should go lighter on the drinks, or at least keep them away from the hot tub. He laughed and agreed that they could come for the next Christmas holiday. But for the time being, I went out and had a nice relaxing soak in the hot tub, and appreciated not having to think about spa electronics.
